Blue Ridge Baptist Temple was established because of the call of God and the Great Commission burning inthe daileys the heart of a young 24-year old, Rev. Parker Dailey and his wife Jean. At the request of Woody Reynolds, Rev. Dailey was asked to consider starting a church in the Hickman Mills area of south Kansas City. The first service was held in the latter part of November, 1953.

After a few months, their number had grown to 35 in attendance. The decision was made to officially organize the church on March 7, 1954, and this embryonic group of Christians called Rev. Dailey as their pastor. There were 14 adults and 2 teenagers present.

With a love for God's Word and a willingness to work hard, Rev. Dailey began to see God bless the ministry. The 1950's saw growth and the purchasing of property at 103rd street and Blue Ridge. The decade of the 60's was a time of multiplication from an attendance of 300 to 800 creating the need for more room. On July 14, 1963, the congregation moved into a new auditorium seating close to 700.

In the 70's the church needed to expand again. A three story education wing was built to accommodate tremendous growth both numerically and spiritually. Between the 1970's and the mid 80's, Blue Ridge Baptist Temple averaged over 1,150 in attendance, which afforded the church an opportunity to invest significantly - not only in taking the gospel to the immediate neighborhood, but also around the world.

In the mid 90's, Rev. Dailey retired after 42 ½ years of pastorate at Blue Ridge Baptist Temple. In the summer of 1996, Rev. Steve Brown was called to lead the church. Under his leadership, the church became more focused on Faith Promise Missions giving. Pastor Brown served until January, 2000.

On March 12, 2000, Rev. Bill Boren was called as pastor. Pastor Boren has been in leadership for the last 9 years. During this time, he has led the church to purchase 40 acres of land in Raymore, beginning the process of relocating and building a new facility.

Blue Ridge Baptist Temple has a rich heritage and a bright future. We are now stepping out by faith, trusting God to provide us a new home in north Cass County.
